Top Work Places Supporting Adults with Autism
 
Individuals with autism too often have been underrepresented and discriminated against in employment. A 2017 report from Drexel University found that only 14 percent of adults with autism held paid jobs in their communities. Another study found that employment rates for people on the spectrum were about 25 percent lower than those for people with other disabilities.

The Rising Rate of Autism in Kids 

Psychology Today, October 15.

In 1970, only 1 child in 10,000 was diagnosed with autism. Today, according to the Centers for Disease Control, the number is 1 in 59. Expansion of the diagnosis to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the DSM-5might explain some of the difference in the number of children diagnosed with the disorder.
